Those who choose cremation over a traditional burial will have their remains buried or inurned at the national cemetery of their choice and are still entitled to all the benefits outlined above.
Funeral benefits available for spouses and dependents of U.S. military veterans include:
- Burial or inurnment with the veteran
- Ongoing care of the gravesite or inurnment plot
- Spouse or dependent’s name and date of birth and death inscribed on the veteran’s headstone
